Commemorating 1 Year of Figure Collecting

26 Dec

I admit I went through the phase of ordering, buying, and spending madly on figures as many had done when first started out in this hobby so my collection had indeed multiplied crazily throughout this one year. Luckily though, I didn’t end up with any bootlegs. With that, I’ll be sharing with you all the figures I’ve attained in this one year and which figure(s) I’ll be presenting various titles such as year’s holy grail, year’s favorite, year’s regrets, and many others to.

My Bakuman. collection.
bakuman. collection A collection that’s not completed but I, strangely, feel satisfied with. I would love to add Phat Company’s Bakuman. trading figures into the collection, but that’s only a thought; one that I don’t feel urgent about. Therefore, the size of this group will not be growing anymore for a long time.

My Durarara!! collection.
durarara!! collection A collection that’s on hold. Because of their small sizes (plus I have no other Durarara!! figures to put them together with), I’ve not found a neat way to display them on my shelf so they’re kept in their boxes for the time being. I plan to get hold of Alter’s Izaya, Shizuo, and Celty in the future to join this collection, but that’s only when I have no other items on my wishlist that I’d want to hunt for. After which, I would pretty much consider this group to be complete (unless new scale figures of other Durarara!! figures get released) and will display them.

My Gintama collection.
gintama collection A steadily growing collection which consists solely of Banpresto’s prize figures as of now. I might consider getting figures from the G.E.M.’s line next time but that’s a low possibility since I feel rather content with how the collection is looking already with just these prize figures.

My Haiyore! Nyaruko-san collection.
haiyore! nyaruko-san collection A certain to grow collection, but will only consist of Nyaruko and not any other characters from the series because I’m only most fond of her. I have most of her other known and available figures already on order and is excitedly waiting for them to arrive starting next year!

My HUNTERxHUNTER collection.
hunterxhunter collection By far the current biggest and my second favorite collection as compared to the rest of the groups. New figures from HUNTERxHUNTER continue to be release by Banpresto and the money from my wallet and pocket just continue to be drained by them.

Missing figures from the group photo above are Banpresto’s Silva and Zeno (who arrived days after I took that group photo) and a chibi figure of both Hisoka and Killua each who were gifts received from a friend just two days ago.
hunterxhunter collection

My One Piece collection.
one collection A collection that’s on hold and waiting to grow. Due to the fact that there’s countless number of One Piece figures already released, I’m not sure where to start buying from to build this collection. I’ve only bought a few figures of my favorite characters from One Piece so far–with the others gifted–and I’m now patiently waiting for a decent set of the Straw Hat Crew figures that come together as a whole.

What’s missing in the group photo is a model kit of Thousand Sunny by Bandai that I’ve yet to build. And no, I don’t plan to paint any of the ships because I really suck at art and craft, especially at painting.

My Touhou collection.
touhou collection A collection that will most probably not grow anymore after I obtain Remilia Scarlet’s nendoroid someday.

My VOCALOID collection.
vocaloid collection A collection that I feel no need of expanding. I do, however, am eager to obtain a set of scale figures of the Kagamine twins and 2013’s Snow Miku because the Kagamine twins are my favorite VOCALOIDs and the 2013’s Snow Miku is looking stunning respectively.

My Yosuga no Sora, or rather, Kasugano Sora, collection.
kasugano sora collection My ultimate favorite collection over the rest not only because of how gorgeous this collection looks, but also mainly due to Sora being my waifu. I was impatient and went overboard with my spending on her this year. Now I left Taki Corporation’s Sora (which, I admit, is not a well-made figure) to hunt for before I officially consider this collection of my waifu to be complete.

And that, was all of the figures I’ve recklessly acquired this one year ever since I’ve devoted myself into this hobby. With the word ‘recklessly’ mentioned, does that mean I regret my choices? Not exactly, but there’s ought to be some damned purchases. I do have a few positive take-away too, which somewhat brings me to my next section: titles giveaway!

Haha, thanks! Toro and Kuro are indeed great candidates for some fun shot because of their facial expressions! Oh, I feel my Bakuman collection’s rather small actually.

Before even going to my 2013 wishlist, I already have a lot of pre-orders scheduled for release next year, haha. I do have a couple of Gintama and HUNTERxHUNTER figures on my wishlist for 2013! But what I really look forward most to now is 2013’s Snow Miku! She’s looking really beautiful in all those photos on MFC! Are you planning to get her as well?

            ah i see… ^^
i saw your ordered list, wow sure it not cheap ( specially when saw the doll, it cost ¥12000 ;A;)

if they release HxH in nendo ver, i may order it XD

snow miku..? yes i wish to get her but i’m still looking her price if her price far from previous ver of snow miku, maybe i will pending get her cause i’m already have yukata miku ^^!
but still she look cute with white kimono :3

          • Rei

            December 28, 2012 at 11:13 PM

I actually got the doll for ¥10200 instead of the retail price because Hobby Search had a discount! Can’t deny that it’s still expensive though, but I’m getting my next salary soon so it’s alright, hehe.

I doubt there’ll be nendoroids of the characters from HxH (Chibi-Arts might more likely to pick them up though), but if there really are, they’re be so adorable! I’ll definitely get my hands on them no matter what the cost! (*´Д`*)

Oh! I love Miku but I keep thinking of Rin wearing the Yukata instead (which I have seen, in MFC, and she looked so cute) because I just like Rin so much more, haha. Either way, your VOCALOID collection is slowly growing into a really nice one!

wow Hobby Search really offering a nice discount… but still for me it expesive ^^!
but after looked the quality product, i guess her price and quality look fair!
btw good luck hunting her, i hope she come safely

speaking about doll, a little wish with this doll ( *laugh* the price really unbelievable >x<)

uumm i don't know too, maybe GSC don't get the licence..?
yes, if become nendoroid, i'm sure it will cute plus i love to change their face with the other characters

            *laugh* me too
how much i love miku but still all my attention for kagamine rin and len
about yukata, yah.. i'm really want GSC make nendoroid yukata rin or kimono rin. She will look cute with her ribbon too
idea come up with snow miku, i want change her head with rin ^^

Thank you~ and you too, i looked your collection become more and more
mostly in future my growing collection will be kagamine fetish XD

According to Hobby Search, they are currently preparing to ship her–I’m so excited!

It can’t be help that the price is so high because she’s so much larger than the regular ones! She really is very pretty, too. Dollfies’ prices though, are so much more terrifying, haha.

Oh, yeah, I read something in the community regarding the license as well, but it was referring to One Piece instead. Even if it’s not about the license though, I find HxH’s characters just doesn’t seem to belong in GSC, you know? GSC seems to go for the more popular or cutesy kind of characters.

When your Kagamine collection grows more in the future, I bet it’ll look fantastic if you have everything placed together, including the albums!

            January 1, 2013 at 11:06 AM

            wow that’s a good news
btw how shipping a doll like that to your country…?
since our country really near each other i guess the shipping price won’t be so much different ^^!

            really….? i don’t really notice that..
ah yah mostly GSC only made cute characters or popular anime series =x=!
geezz i wonder if gsc want make masaki mei nendo…?

            yah, i think so too…
well if i can collect most of them, i bet my room will full of yellow XD
            will try my best~
it’s strange how my personality can change cause stuck with my favorite character ^^!

p.s : oh yah remember about snow miku 2013…?
if compare snow miku 2013 with sakura miku which one better…? I may hunting 1 miku again ^^

          • Rei

            January 1, 2013 at 11:47 AM

I still haven’t been notified of the shipping cost yet but when I do, I’ll tell you about it!

There’s a Chibi-Arts of Mei already in the works though! She very much resembles a nendoroid. To me, it seems unlikely that GSC will make one for her when there’s already a Chibi-Arts, but we’ll never know!

I would personally choose Snow Miku 2013. Sakura Miku’s really cute and pretty but Snow Miku 2013 feels a lot more unique. In default, she doesn’t look like the typical Miku, which is great, but there’s also the option with her twintails, which is even better! Another thing is that Snow Miku 2013’s outfit is quite general, so other nendoroids (for example, Rin, hehe) can look good in it too. The only thing would be that Snow Miku 2013’s definitely going to be much more expensive than Sakura Miku, so you might have to consider on that.

            January 1, 2013 at 4:46 PM

            okay :D
            i will wait your info…

i saw from mfc about chibi arts mei
            this one right..?
don’t know why i don’t feel satisfied with chibi arts ( i’m more like nendoroid fans ^^!). Hope GSC will make her soon

            thanks for the advice ^^
i’m really confused between sakura miku and snow miku 2013
as your said sakura miku really cute plus her expression GSC offered really nice too * sadly i’m not a fans of pink color so it just look strange =x=*
and snow miku…i have no word for her, she is unique and beautiful too.
I will try hunting snow miku 2013 if the price less than $90 with shipping.
I hope this time GSC won’t make a mess for this miku….

          • Rei

            January 3, 2013 at 10:57 AM

Yup, it’s that. Me too. I have one Chibi-Arts and it doesn’t tempt me to get another. I think it’s the big gap between the size of their heads and their bodies that makes them feel so fragile, unlike nendoroids, where their bodies are much chubbier to fit their big heads so the quality of theirs feel better.

Perhaps the pink GSC used for Sakura Miku is a bit too bright and striking that makes the whole Miku look… strange?

I believe Snow Miku 2012’s incident was just an unfortunate mishap. They should be more careful now. I can’t wait to see which Miku you’ll end up getting!

          • yomizakura

            January 3, 2013 at 1:37 PM

yah i looked chibi-arts can’t count as chibi * it not cute at all*
maybe the prefect chibi size is nendoroid. the face and body really match and count as cute X3

if much brightness i think yes…?
well i’m really curious with sakura miku without photoshop editing or too much lightning effect

i hope too, last year GSC made so many mess product and less quality control
really hope it change in 2013 >x<
i think i will stick with snow miku 2013, the kimono and hair just too beautiful
need prepare on feb *i bet many fans will be do the same ^^*

Hey! I received Hobby Search’s mail just yesterday. The shipping cost for the Nyaruko Pureneemo doll along with a Megahouse Hisoka GEM Series ( is 2,400 yen.

          • yomizakura

            January 10, 2013 at 10:25 AM

wow she cost less than racing miku pvc ^^
hhmm so her weight around 2kg…?

          • Rei

            January 13, 2013 at 9:19 PM

Oh, no. She’s not that heavy at all since she’s quite small actually. I guess around the weight of two to three nendoroids piled up, maybe?

Thanks! If you’re talking about the Bakuman nendoroids, then yeah, glad I have them all! But the whole collection’s far from complete. Do you ever plan to get the other Bakuman nendoroids beside Miho?

I just remembered we had a similar conversation like this back in my Takagi nendoroid review, haha. It’s really unfortunate that their prices are still so high after so long; I’d really love to see some photographs of them by you.

Haha. Will wait for a resale I guess. I’m sure it will take a while or maybe not anymore.. -_-
I really love to take some pictures of them with Miho. I think it’d be cool :)
